$6 Dollars & My Cleaning Supplies Are Organized!!

Last night, while I was getting my boys out of the shower I heard that deafening silence that can only mean one thing! My daughter is probably into something she shouldn't be in! I ran to the kitchen and found my daughter (who is 18 months old and such a sweet rascal) playing in the cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink. I immediately turned her over, face up, and rinsed her face, eyes and mouth with fresh water. Lesson learned - my daughter now knows how to open the kitchen sliding door and squeeze a squirt bottle. It's time to move all the cleaning supplies and get this place safe!

Under The Kitchen Sink Before...

Under The Kitchen Sink After...

When I moved all the cleaning supplies to my supply cabinet, this is what greeted me...
 I know, I know!
What a mess.

So I took this opportunity (and reminder) to get organized.
I headed over to Dollar Tree and purchased 6 storage containers.
This project cost me $6!!!!!

And, drum roll please...
Ta-da!

I am such a sucker for that 70's olive green color, so when I saw that color I was sold!
I am thinking of going back tonight and buying some more of these: bathroom, husband's tools, food storage, laundry supplies, etc. I THINK I LOVE THEM :)

My printer is currently out of ink so I made some quick labels that can be changed out for better ones later. But for now, having some simple and uniform labels is helping to make this quick project look finished.

If you noticed, there are 3 rows of containers in the finished photo and in the before photo the cabinet has 4 shelves. For that 4th shelf, I am making a lined diaper box like this one from Our Home From Scratch's blog. I will post a tutorial on that at a later time.

Have a fantastic weekend friends!

  1. Janiene...looks like your daughter gave you some inspiration for a project and a post :). I LOVE your newly organized cleaning supplies and boy do you have a lot of cleaning supplies. You must have a spotless house :) AND, your handwriting is so lovely, I wouldn't waste ink on printing out labels (not that you had a choice but still).

  5. Well done! Oh, what I wouldn't give to be more organized. Can I hire you to come organize my craft room? I just found you through Days of Chalk and Chocolate. I'm your newest follower. I'd love it if you'd follow me back at www.crazythriftycrafts.blogspot.com.

  7. This is such a great way to organize your janitorial cleaning supplies. I have always been a neat freak when it comes to organizing things, especially cleaning supplies. I usually look toward buying janitorial supplies because they are cheaper and easier to organize. I also like them because they usually come in bulk-sizes so you won't need to run to the store every week for a new roll of towels. Thank you so much for sharing!

  8. Great work you did here! It’s effective and cheap. I’ve always placed importance in keeping things organized because it’s easier to find things when you know where to look, and neatly arranged equipment is nice to see. Good call on separating the kitchen cleaning tools from the bathroom stuff! Personally, my living room cleaning tools are always located under our stairs for easy access, but I do keep them under lock and key for safety purposes.
