hello autumn...

Hello Autumn, you are both my favorite and least favorite season.
You bring with you the most wonderful warm colors of red, orange, brown, dark green and yellow.  There are pumpkin patches to visit, warm oatmeal cookies to nibble on, harvest festivals to attend, Thanksgiving dinners to cook and devour, family to visit, and, well, the cold/flu season to come knocking on our door.
Ava has rubella (german measles) and we have all been locked up in the house for the week.  Both the boys had it when they were little so it is nothing new.  She is the cutest most cuddly girl, so being stuck in the house isn't too much of a drag.  Here is a picture of the rash on sweetie-girl's forehead...

Papa Curtis came by for a visit tonight.  Ethan and Owen had a fun time climbing all over Papa (not too sure whether Papa had as much fun with them using his hair for leverage, ouch!).

Tonight we made cookies using our favorite oatmeal cookie recipe.  Making the cookies was a family affair!  I wanted to take pictures of the boys pouring the ingredients into the kitchenaid mixer but it was way too hard!

Our first batch vanished!  I couldn't even get to the camera in time to take a photo :)

For my friends who love trading recipes, here is my all-time favorite oatmeal cookie recipe from Quaker Oats.

Vanishing Oatmeal Cookies
1 cup butter (2 sticks)
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1-1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups Quaker Oats

Beat butter and sugars until creamy.  Add eggs and vanilla to butter mixture.  Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and add to the butter mixture; mix well.  Stir in oats; mix well.  Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto a foil-lined baking sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees for 10 min.  Take out of the oven when the bottoms are brown but the tops still look slightly undercooked.  Let cool on the counter-top.  AMAZING!

Have a happy week everyone!
May God bless you abundantly with His goodness and mercy!  :)
